The two ink works below were part of an experiment on a large scale in which ink was layered heavily on high quality Kozo paper in an attempt to explore its malleability, texture, form and emotive quality. Process is all important to my work on Japanese paper and how the ink lies, how it layers and flows is of the utmost importance to me. The effect of ink on Japan paper is for me an utter joy akin to my first experiments with drawing as a child. The last image is entitled Serendipity because I happened to have a good piece of Fabriano underneath Colour Theory 2 and it bled into this to produce something more subtle and interesting perhaps than its original layers of fiery mountainous colour.
